The Road Beat: 2022 Toyota Tundra Platinum review

What is it?

Platinum might be one of the most valuable precious metals in the world, but the Platinum Tundra is now mid-grade when it comes to pricing in Toyota's new Tundra lineup. This is the second Toyota Tundra I've tested (after the range-topping Capstone) and easily the better of the bunch. It has all the luxury you could want from a truck, and on par with the Capstone, but it costs $10,000 less. There are a few features (that you don't need) that it forgoes, but it's overall the best new Tundra you can buy. If you want a Tundra, that is; competition is fierce.

Road Beat: 2023 Honda HR-V Review - An elevated compact experience

What is it?

Honda's HR-V is a compact crossover SUV from the Japanese manufacturer. The first-generation HR-V has sold tremendously well in the United States, being a top choice for those wanting to spend under $30,000 on an economical vehicle, but want to sit a little higher. In fact, HR-V literally means 'high-rider revolutionary vehicle.' While not quite a revolution in all sense of the word, the evolution that has occurred here elevates the HR-V to among the cream of the crop for small crossovers. It also buries Toyota's new Corolla Cross into oblivion.

Road Beat - 2022 Acura MDX Type S review: better, but not the best

What is it?

Acura’s venerable MDX SUV turned up a couple of clicks after receiving the ‘Type S’ treatment. Don’t overthink Type S, though, as it’s not the AMG equivalent for Acura (at least not yet, where’s the Type R, Acura?), yet this does bring a raft of hardware and tuning changes to make the most sporting Acura SUV ever. On paper, this new MDX Type S promises to be a more engaging and sporting SUV in their lineup to keep things interesting and hopefully fend off new and updated rivals in the luxury three-row SUV segment.

What’s good?
