Clifford Adams, the trombonist for R & B band Kool & the Gang died earlier this week from liver cancer. Adams had been ill for over a year and was no longer traveling with the band. He was 62.
The remaining band members will be in South Lake Tahoe on Saturday, January 17 for a 9 p.m. show at MontBleu.
Longtime friend and fellow Kool & the Gang musician Michael Ray mourned Adams' loss. "This was my closest and my oldest friend," the trumpet player told NJ.com. "If you knew Cliff you knew his infectious smile and his strong spirit. … He was powered by family values and he was one of the baddest trombone players in all the planet."
