South Tahoe Refuse gives money back now for wine, liquor, and juice containers

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Among the new laws that started with the new year, consumers will pay a little more in California Redemption Value (CRV) fees.

Fruit juice containers of 46 ounces or more and vegetable juice containers of over 16 ounces have been added to the program. Also added are beverage containers that are boxes, bladders, or pouches containing wine, distilled spirits, wine coolers, or distilled spirit coolers.

These changes make it easier for the public to do their part for the planet while putting some money back in their pockets.

In South Lake Tahoe, bring eligible recyclables to the South Tahoe Refuse Buy Back Center Tuesdays through Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. It is located at 2192 Ruth Avenue.

The CRV refunds are:

5 cents for containers less than 24 ounces
10 cents for containers 24 ounces or larger
25 cents for boxes, bladders or pouches that contained wine, distilled spirits, wine coolers, or distilled spirit coolers.
