SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Wilbert Christopher Holt pleaded guilty in the South Lake Tahoe Superior Court on January 28, 2019, to Criminal Threats with a Deadly Weapon.
A month prior, Holt was highly intoxicated when he threatened his mother with a knife. He held a knife in his hand in the open position and told his mother he would "cut her." He then warned her not to call the police.
The Honorable Suzanne Kingsbury sentenced the defendant to a "Johnson Year" in custody, meaning he will not receive any "good time" credits and will serve a full 365 days in jail followed by a four year probation period. The Court made a special finding that the defendant suffers from both substance abuse and mental health issues, and would benefit from treatment for both upon release from custody.
The case was investigated by the South Lake Tahoe Police Department and prosecuted by Deputy District Attorney Lydia B. Stuart.
