Letter: South Lake Tahoe Republican Women, Federated monthly meeting update

The South Lake Tahoe Republican Women Federated hosted its February luncheon and meeting featuring guest speakers Nevada State Controller Andy Matthews, and Tamara Wallace, South Lake Tahoe city councilmember.

As Nevada’s State Controller, Matthews is acting as the Chief Fiscal Officer for the State. Mr. Matthews spoke to the group about increasing government transparency and accountability in governmental financial matters. One transparency goal would be to develop a plan to put all government spending online.

Tamara Wallace, who was recently reelected to the SLT City Council, spoke about common sense goals for the city, affordable housing, and concerns about a vacancy tax and increasing the TOT tax in order to pay for affordable housing. She also mentioned her goal to work with TRPA to knock down some barriers to help with the affordable housing State mandates and goals.

The South Lake Tahoe Republican Women, Federated meets most months on the second Thursday from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Some of our goals are: Open and accountable government, election security and integrity, economic prosperity, and constitutional liberties.
