Body of missing Lake Tahoe woman found at Emerald Bay

A Search and Rescue team from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office found the body of Carolyn Batchelor, the Zephyr Cove woman who was reported missing on February 17.

The Douglas County Sheriff's Office had been searching for the 69-year-old woman when her car was found parked at Inspiration Point overlooking Emerald Bay on February 19. At that time, the car was covered in a foot of snow from recent snowfall.

A Search and Rescue mission was planned and carried out beginning Saturday, February 20 and continued for a week. Heavy snow blanketed the steep and rugged terrain near Batchelor's car.

On Saturday February 27, Carolyn Batchelor’s body was found in the area of Inspiration Point partially buried under the snow.

At this time Carolyn’s death is not considered suspicious. The manner and cause of death remain under investigation.
