Kings Beach improvements focus of summer project

Improvements at the community of Kings Beach on the North Shore of Lake Tahoe continue. Placer County will begin work on the Kings Beach Commercial Core Improvement Project this summer, and officials are also connecting with the community members to see what else they'd like to see.

Along a 1.1 mile stretch, a sixth public parking lot behind Rite-Aid along Rainbow Avenue that will add 29 spaces, they will be adding landscape plantings to the beds constructed last year, modifying drainage at the base of Beaver Street, rearranging decorative light poles to provide more appealing banner locations, installing decorative hand railings to the Griff Creek Bridge, and replacing damaged traffic control posts.

Work will begin in June.

Earlier this year, plans for an upgrade to the recreational facilities at Kings Beach State Recreation Area were unveiled and will include a new events center, expanded parking and new pier.
