South Lake Tahoe Powerball winner comes forward

While every day is a great one in South Lake Tahoe, today is particularly a good one for Linda Emmons. That is because she came forward to claim her $708,769 Powerball prize. Emmons matched the numbers 24-44-31-11 and 40 on a $20 Quick Pick® ticket, missing only the Powerball number 27 for the March 11th drawing.

As South Tahoe Now carried the story on March 12, that lucky ticket was sold at the 7-Eleven located at 3923 Pioneer Trail in South Lake Tahoe.

While Emmons told the California Lottery she wants to remain low key about what she plans to do with the money, one thing is for sure – she isn’t the first big California Lottery winner in South Lake Tahoe. Back in 2012 another lucky South Lake Tahoe player took home $1 million playing a Scratchers® ticket.

Powerball is a multistate game played in California (and 43 other states, plus the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands). Draw times are Wednesdays and Saturdays at 7:59 p.m. PST. Tickets sales are suspended from 7:00 p.m. to 7:05 p.m. the day of the draw. Tickets are $2 and can be purchased from any of the more than 21,000 California Lottery retailers or one of the more than 4,000 Lottery Lucky Retailers. Please visit the California Lottery’s Powerball site for more information on how to play.
