Jamie Anderson in town for Boarding for Breast Cancer event at Sierra

Event Date:
April 2, 2016 (All day)

Olympic champion Jamie Anderson from South Lake Tahoe will be part of 20th Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) Snowboard and Music Festival, Shredding the Love on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at Sierra-at-Tahoe Resort.

The inspiration behind B4BC was a young woman named Monica Steward, co-founder of Bonfire, who at was diagnosed with breast cancer the age of 26 and passed away in 1996 at the age of 29. B4BC’s founders, all leaders in the snowboarding industry and pro riders, wanted to create a space to celebrate Monica’s passions, snowboarding and music, while communicating the importance of awareness and education for young people. Thus, the B4BC Snowboard + Music Festival was born.

The first ever festival was held in 1996 and included music from the Beastie Boys and an over-capacity crowd of over 5,000 people. Over the next seven years the festival grew and boasted acts such as Blink 182, Linkin Park, The Foo Fighters, Michael Franti and Spearhead, Luscious Jackson, and more.

Over their lifetime, B4BC’s Snowboard + Music Festivals raised over $600,000 for beneficiaries that included the Breast Cancer Fund, Nina Hyde Center for Breast Cancer Research and regional breast cancer support organizations.

This Saturday's event will include a Big Air Expression Session with Jamie Anderson, and Sierra-at-Tahoe riders that will demonstrate the sport, Kjersti Buass, Tyler Nicholson, and more.
