South Lake Tahoe Police search for convicted sex offender

Rafael Corea, a 61 year old former restaurant worker, has failed to register as a sex offender and the South Lake Tahoe Police Department would like to find him.

In 1995, Corea was convicted for lew and lascivious acts with a minor aged 14 or 15. As part of his conviction he much register as a sexual offender for the rest of his life, and he failed to do so in 2015 as required.

SLTPD detectives discovered Corea has moved out of his former residence in South Lake Tahoe and his current whereabouts are unknown, and they'd like the public's help in locating him.

The police are informing the public to help them locate and arrest Corea, as well as to encourage community vigilance and safety. Information on registered sexual offenders can be located online at http://www.meganslaw.ca.gov/.

As a reminder, the offender registry includes only those persons who have been required under law to register and who are in compliance with the offender registration laws. The information is provided as a public service and may not be current or accurate. Persons should not rely solely on the offender registry as a safeguard against offenses in their communities. The crime for which a person is convicted may not accurately reflect the level of risk. Anyone who uses information contained in the registry to harass registrants or commit any crime may be subject to criminal prosecution. The purpose of the release of information is to allow members of the public to protect themselves and their children from sex offenders (Penal Code 290.45).
