Nine members of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) Explorer Post #2105
gave an outstanding performance this past weekend during the Central Coast Law Enforcement Exploring Competition in Tulare, Calif. They competed against 21 other police, sheriff and highway patrol posts in 19 different scenarios including felony car stops, shooting skills, written exams, oral interviews, suspicious persons and physical agility.
DCSO Explorers won 13 trophies including second place overall for the entire competition.
“They worked together as a team - they were positive and supportive of not only each other, but other Explorer Posts as well," said Deputy Teresa Duffy. "They have consistently worked hard to accomplish this goal.”
When the DCSO Explorers found out Stockton Police Explorers were wearing orange ribbons on their uniforms in support of an explorer’s mom who was battling cancer, they wore them as well, according to Deputy Chris Wiggins.
“To see all the young and energetic police explorers really makes both of us hopeful about the future of law enforcement, and to see the amazing youth around us,” said Deputy Duffy.
