LTCC announces hiring of two for new Marketing and Communications office

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Lake Tahoe Community College (LTCC) celebrated the kickoff of its 50th-anniversary party in March, and they will spend the next 18 months highlighting their achievements, academic and student support programs and showcasing the accomplishments of our students and staff.

To help them with this task, LTCC President/Superintendent Jeff DeFranco has announced the filling of the school's Marketing and Communications office, adding two professionals with experience and expertise to their respective roles who can hit the ground running.

These two roles fill two current vacancies at a time of great need for the organization. These new hires join LTCC as they ramp up for all those 50th Anniversary-related activities and are well prepared to tackle all the wide-ranging roles of the department including direct marketing of college programs and student support services, college branding, web design, social media, and public relations.

Nora Anderson started with LTCC on April 15 as the Digital Communication Specialist III. Holding a B.S. degree in Business Management & Marketing from the University of Nevada, Reno, she most recently served as the marketing coordinator at Edgewood Tahoe Resort, responsible for website maintenance, social and professional media channel management, internal communication, and content creation. As a lifelong Lake Tahoe native, she is enthusiastic about her new role, fostering connections with current and prospective Coyotes and the local community. Notably, Nora recently designed the logo for the graduating Class 18 of the LTCC Fire Academy, demonstrating her familiarity with our programs.

Mark Thomsen is the new LTCC Public Information Officer (PIO) and will start his new job on May 7. He received his B.A. in Marketing from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and will complete his MBA with Boston University in January 2025. Currently the Marketing Manager at Edgewood Tahoe, Mark oversees all marketing functions, including email and influencer marketing, public and media relations, website strategy, event management, oversight of their creative agency, and creation of their new eCommerce platform. Prior, he was with Trek Travel, initially their first marketing hire, then Global Brand Marketing and Strategy Director, and most recently the eCommerce & Technical Operations Manager developing the nascent IT department and honing his data visualization skills, along his 16-year career path with the company. He has earned certifications in data analytics, brand strategy, and technical support.

The new Marketing and Communications office will be adjacent to the administration offices and across the hall from the HR Office. Nora’s email is nora.anderson@ltcc.edu and Mark’s email is mark.thomsen@ltcc.edu.

"This is an exciting, action-filled time for LTCC, and Nora and Mark will help us achieve our goals, enhancing and elevating the content and efficiency of the delivery of our messages to our varied audiences, external and internal," said DeFranco.
