TRPA Board to vote on STPUD solar project and affordable housing incentives at next meeting

The next agenda for the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency (TRPA) Governing Board includes: Solar power for STPUD, Washoe Tahoe Area Plan amendments for school zoning in Incline Village, proposed clarification to Phase 2 Housing Amendments, a resolution of support for affordable housing, and funds for the City of South Lake Tahoe for the Bijou Park Greenway Trail Connector and sediment-reducing street sweepers.

Transportation Committee- Beginning no earlier than 9:15 a.m.

Regional Planning Committee - Beginning no earlier than 3:00 p.m. at the conclusion of the Governing Board Meeting

The Board is scheduled to approve a resolution that recognizes the environmental and community benefits of supporting affordable housing. Other housing issues at the meeting include technical clarifications of Phase 2 Affordable Housing incentives. They will decide on mandatory participation in stormwater treatment systems for lake clarity to receive coverage incentives, and reservation of bonus units for deed-restricted affordable and moderate housing.

South Tahoe Public Utility District (STPUD) is seeking approval for its Solar Power Project, a new 1,339 kW DC ground-mount accessory photovoltaic power system proposed for use by the existing Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The fenced 3.31-acre project area is about 450 feet east of the current WWTP and would offset approximately 32 percent of the current energy demand.

The Board will also vote on the 2024 Lake Tahoe Active Transportation Plan to improve walking, biking, and other non-motorized transportation options.
