South Tahoe High grad comes out of NFL draft day with a Philadelphia Eagles contract

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - South Tahoe High School standout McCallan Castles left South Lake Tahoe to make a name for himself on the college gridiron, and now he is headed to the National Football League (NFL).

After the 2024 draft was over on Saturday, Castles signed an undrafted free-agent contract with the Philadelphia Eagles. He is a 6'5", 235-pound tight end and the news was shared on the Tennesee Volunteers social media page.

Castles caught 102 passes for 2,027 yards and 27 touchdowns in two seasons at South Tahoe High. He played first for the California Golden Bears as a freshman and at the beginning of his sophomore year. Castles then transferred to UC Davis where he played from 2020 to 2022, then wrapped up his college football career at the University of Tennessee where, in 2023, he played in all 13 games. He had 22 receptions for 283 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns.
