Valhalla Renaissance Faire at Lake Tahoe Celebrates 20th Year

Get away from it all and lose yourself in the magic and merriment of the Renaissance. This year's Valhalla Renaissance Faire, June 2-3 and June 9-10 at Camp Richardson Historic Resort and Marina, will feature four stages of continuous entertainment, action-packed shows, music, dancing, jesters, 900 costumed actors, Shakespearian vignettes, expertly staged battles, storytelling for children and adults, archery tournaments and much more.
Shop over 100 merchants selling a wide array of arts and crafts, one of a kind jewelry items, woodcrafts, artwork, ceramics, clothing, historic weapons and leather goods. And to top it all off, a hard-hitting joust.

Drawing more then 8,000 visitors, the Valhalla Renaissance Faire is a unique entertainment experience and an extraordinary outing for children. This unique festival includes real jousting sessions and full armored combat between knights, along with culinary delicacies, craft demonstrations, ancient music, dance and comedy. Patrons will participate in archery, javelin throws, and fencing. Activities for the children will include games, crafts, a petting zoo, puppet shows and storytelling.

The Valhalla Renaissance Faire recreates a renaissance village on festival weekends and includes a merchant marketplace with nearly 100 unique merchants and crafters.

"South Lake Tahoe's Camp Richardson is the perfect backdrop for the transformation back in time. If you have never had the opportunity to go to a Renaissance Faire, Valhalla Reniassance Faire is something to experience," Marti Miernik, CEO of Renaissance Productions said. "The faire will be entertaining from the moment you step into the park. We have prepared something very special to celebrate the 20th anniversary of this faire."

"Camp Richardson Resort & Marina and our community are looking forward to another quality Valhalla Renaissance Fair for 2012," said Kris Knox, Corp. GM, Camp Richardson Resort Inc.

Family Day at Valhalla Renaissance Faire
On Friday June 8, the Faire will open for school field trips and families. Since 2010 the fair was opened to the general public (not just schools), and it was a great success. Over the years thousands of students from public, private, and home schools have come out to enjoy the faire and learn about the life and times during the renaissance. This day just keeps getting better. Family day is geared towards elementary and middle school age students, and public, private, and home schools, and anyone else with young children are welcome.
