Douglas County deputy injured and suspect dead after domestic disturbance

1:00 p.m. update 5/21: The man who was killed by deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) after making threats to “kill the police” and hitting one of them with his car has been identified as 77-year-old Jimmy Alan Moss from Yerington, Nev.

One suspect was shot and killed and a Douglas County Sheriff's deputy is recovering from injuries sustained after responding to a domestic violence call in the Sunridge area of the county.

At 9:30 p.m. Saturday May 19, deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office (DCSO) responded to to the call on Shadow Lane in northern Douglas County.

As the suspect was leaving the home he attempted to run over one of the deputies, according to a source, and then took aim at others with his vehicle when they shot him.

Since DCSO was involved, the Carson City Sheriff's Office and the Nevada Division of Investigations are handling the investigation.

The names of the deceased, injured deputy and other three deputies involved in the shooting have not been released. The injured deputy was transported to the Carson Valley Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries according to a DCSO Twitter post.
