Fundraiser to get 40 bikes for Boys and Girls Club Mountain Bike Program

Event Date:
May 28, 2019 - 6:00pm

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Join community members help raise money to get South Lake Tahoe kids on bikes this summer.

The Tahoe Fund is partnering with members of the South Lake Tahoe Community to bring 40 new Specialized mountain bikes, helmets and mountain bike coaching to youth at the Lake Tahoe Boys & Girls Club, SOS Outreach, and the South Lake Tahoe Middle School. The bikes will provide kids greater access to trails in Tahoe and the nearby Bijou Bike Park.

On Tuesday, May 28, join them at The Hangar's expanded outdoor zone from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for a fundraiser to help raise the final $3,800 to get the project to the finish line. There will be a raffle and any donations received will be matched.

Can't make the event? You can still support this project here.

The total cost of the program is $23,500.

Partners: Lake Tahoe Boys & Girls Club, TAMBA, Specialized Foundation, Sports LTD, SOS Outreach, Lake Tahoe Unified School District, Tahoe Women’s Fund

The Tahoe Fund is partnering with The Specialized Foundation because of the nation-wide success the organization has had with its Riding For Focus program. Designed to help children diagnosed with ADHD concentrate at school, the Foundation’s goal is to use cycling as a tool for kids to achieve academic, health, and social successes.

The Specialized Foundation will provide training on their program to two teachers this summer at their Morgan Hill Campus.

They need to finish raising the initial $7,000 by May 31 to get 15 bikes for use this summer at the Club and by SOS Outreach at Kirkwood Bike Park. Then they need to raise an additional $16,500 by July 31 to get the remaining 25 bikes for the school year.
