Woman seriously injured in South Lake Tahoe bike accident

11:00 p.m. UPDATE: The woman injured in Sunday's bike accident reports no broken bones, a few stitches and is a bit sore.

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - A 39-year-old woman from Auburn, California is currently at Barton Hospital after an accident in front of the Grocery Outlet Store in South Lake Tahoe Sunday evening.

The woman was riding a small electric bicycle in a westerly direction on the sidewalk when she apparently lost control of the bike on loose gravel, causing her to fall onto the roadway where she was hit by a car, according to South Lake Tahoe Police Sgt. Jason Cheney.

The call came into dispatch at 5:53 p.m. An off-duty nurse from Barton Health was driving by and stopped to render aid to the woman until emergency personnel could arrive.

Upon their arrival the victim was awake, alert and talking,

Cheney said the victim was by herself while riding. When she landed on Lake Tahoe Boulevard a car in the lane could not stop in time and ran over her leg. The driver stopped and is being cooperative. No drugs or alcohol are suspected in this accident, said Cheney.

The accident victim was complaining of pelvic pain and transported to Barton Hospital. Cheney said she was going to be transported to Renown via Careflight but that call has been canceled.

At this time there are no other details.
