Miss Marcia is remembered one year later

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - It has been one year since the community suddenly lost "Miss Marcia," and her spirit, her guidance, and her love are missed every day.

When Marcia Sarosik passed away on June 5, 2022, the whole community was shaken, not just the dancers and their families from her studio, but also teachers, the schools, her neighbors, and all other nonprofits in South Lake Tahoe (and the list goes on). Marcia's husband Dennis and children Lisa and Evan lost their beacon.

Marcia was a shining light. For almost 40 years she touched the lives of boys and girls in the community, many of who brought their own children to grow up in Miss Marica's studio.

She dedicated her life to helping others through her love for both dance and the youth of the community. As we remember her one year later, the greatest tribute to her would be to follow in her light and be a better person, be a Marcia.

On January 20th of this year, South Lake Tahoe Mayor Cristi Creegan proclaimed the date as Miss Marcia Day, the day she would have celebrated her 67th birthday.

Marcia's love of dance is being carried through the new owner of the studio, Ashley Smith. Appropriately named "The Studio," Ashley is doing what Marcia dedicated her life to - sharing the love of life, and the love of dance.
