Letter to the Editor: A vote for Wallace is a vote for community

There is one thing I have learned in my many years as a business owner and in my support through community service: You simply cannot hide behavior.

Over these last six years, we have all been deeply impacted by events beyond our control, to say the least. From the largest snowstorms on record to the impacts of Covid-19 shutting down South Lake Tahoe as well as the complete evacuation of our beautiful city. There was a point just before the Caldor Fire evacuation when I simply could not bring myself to clear out all of the precious work in my gallery and art studio. I froze. I sat there in disbelief looking around at everything that I had built. I could not come to terms with the possibility of my life's work turning to ash. I simply could not believe it. I sat there in my gallery watching the cars stack up outside and still could not bring myself to take action. I picked up the phone and called our Mayor Tamara Wallace who gave me a minute-by-minute report based on the experts she was working with. She ended our call with "Scott...If that line holds and stays on the backside, we are the luckiest city in the world". The Fire Crews did a masterful job and the clearing work performed before the Caldor Fire is the kind of foresight, clarity, and action that we need in our leadership. In a community as intimate as South Lake Tahoe, our actions are clearly marked and do not go unnoticed.

During Tamara Wallace's term as mayor, her thriving support for our community has helped to build a flourishing art scene which has truly made a difference in creating a better life in South Lake Tahoe for us all.

I know that we are far better with Tamara Wallace working tirelessly for our community. In fact, we could very well be the luckiest city in the world.
