Woman arrested after South Lake Tahoe collision

The South Lake Tahoe Police Department was kept busy with a couple of different alcohol-related incidents Thursday evening.

The first one occurred when a 22-year-old South Lake Tahoe woman crashed her Chevy Suburban into a Volkswagon Jetta driven by a local man. The woman, who had two children in her vehicle, a 3-year-old and 1 1/2-year-old, was headed northbound on Ski Run Boulevard when she attempted to make a turn onto Tamarack Avenue. She hit the Jetta which was heading eastbound and slowing to stop at the intersection.

Officers arrived and found the woman to have a blood alcohol level above .08. She was arrested and booked on felony charges of DUI and child endangerment and remains in the El Dorado County Jail Saturday morning.

The driver of the Jetta was injured, but declined medical attention.

SLTPD officers also responded to Applebee's on Lake Tahoe Boulevard that night on the call of a drunk 21-year-old man who was causing a disturbance. After vomiting on the bar he was yelling at personnel and refused to leave. When the emergency phone call was placed the operator had trouble hearing the caller due to the volume of the man's yelling.

Officers could not get him to calm down and had to use a taser according to SLTPD Sgt. Jeff Roberson. The unidentified man was handcuffed and transported to Barton Hospital for medical clearance before being arrested.

He was charged two misdemeanors, Obstruction and Disorderly Conduct: Alcohol and is no longer in the El Dorado County Jail.
