Knorr out, Combs in as El Dorado County CAO

Interim El Dorado County Chief Administrative Officer Pamela Knorr no longer holds the title of Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the title she has held since being appointed in 2014. After a closed session of the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, she was removed from the position and Larry Combs was appointed to fill the position.

Knorr will return to her original appointment as the county’s full-time Human Resources director on June 29.

Combs served as county executive in Merced County from 2009 to 2011 and county administrative officer in Sutter County from 1983 to 2009. His previous experience included roles with Kings County and San Diego County.

“This county has gone through an unprecedented amount of elected and appointed leadership change in the past year, and we’re very pleased now to strengthen our executive management team with someone of Larry’s experience and caliber,” said Brian Veerkamp, Board of Supervisors chair.

“The board also cannot adequately express its thanks and appreciation to Pamela for the time she has spent performing the dual roles of county administrator and Human Resources director. She is to be commended for being a valued member of our executive team and we look forward to her assistance for the continued improvement of our county,” said Veerkamp.

The terms and conditions of Combs’ appointment will be considered and formally executed by the Board of Supervisors at a subsequent meeting.
