Club Live celebrates 30 years at South Tahoe Middle School

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - For 30 years Larry Lambdin has led Club Live at South Tahoe Middle School, guiding youth through the leadership program that promotes a healthy lifestyle by providing safe, high-energy alternative activities.

Students participate in leadership events, community service projects, club meetings, and recreational trips each year, and this week, the club was recognized for its positive impact on the youth of South Lake Tahoe.

South Lake Tahoe Mayor Cristi Creegan stopped by STMS on Thursday to meet with students and to present a proclamation from the City to honor Club Live's 30th anniversary at STMS.

Then on Thursday night, a Club Live awards ceremony was held with many students returning from the past 30 years of the club.

Lambdin said the first year of Club Live was started with the help of the former Tahoe Prevention Network, and the students had an Easter Egg Hunt at the Beacon and received their first donation of $4,000 which was spent on a leadership trip to Wild Island.

The club continues to fundraise, participate in leadership conferences, and fun activities, support events like working a tent at the Lake Tahoe Marathon, and enjoy an end-of-the-year reward trip to Six Flags.
