Tahoe History Talks on the Beach return - Borges Brothers start off the summer

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - The Lake Tahoe Historical Society starts off a summer of history on the beach at Lakeview Commons, every Tuesday through August 1 (except for the 4th of July holiday).

Tahoe History Talks on the Beach feature different speakers for an hour every week, from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the steps at the west side of the Commons.

To start things off, the Borges brothers of South Lake Tahoe will be entertaining the crowd with the history of John C. Fremont, the civil engineering feat that is the Virginia City water supply, and nostalgia for Bonanza, the popular television show set in Tahoe that ran from 1959 to 1973!

There will be food and snacks available for purchase at Tessie's Beach Bites too!

The talks are free but donations to the Historical Society are always appreciated.

Two other talks are already scheduled with final details being worked out on the rest:

June 27: David Woodruff presents "Dam Lake Tahoe." Lake Tahoe's waters have been highly valued for thousands of years, important to Native Americans, Comstock mining barons, and Bay Area civic leaders, and providing an enduring inspiration for all who see it.

August 1: Toogee Sielsch, the resident black bear expert, will share stories of our urban black bear population.

Lakeview Commons is located at the intersection of Lakeview Avenue and Lake Tahoe Boulevard.
