Sierra State Parks opens Environmental Awareness Art Exhibit

TAHOE CITY, Calif. – The Sierra State Parks Foundation hosted a virtual art contest for the 50th Earth Day celebration this past April as a way to bring the community together during this period of social isolation. It was met with an enthusiastic response, receiving 65 submissions from all ages. The theme of the art was "What Does Earth Day Mean to you."

The Foundation is now displaying all of the entries in an art exhibit on the 2nd floor of the Boatworks Mall in Tahoe City. Art is organized by age, starting with the winner of each division.

“We are grateful for the overwhelming number of entries we received and the passion behind each drawing for the protection of the environment,” said SSPF Executive Director Heidi Doyle.

The California State Parks Foundation generously provided project funding.

The art exhibit will be available for viewing during normal business hours through September. Boatworks at Lake Tahoe is located at 760 N Lake Blvd, Tahoe City, CA.
