SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Holiday traffic to and from South Lake Tahoe is hampered as US50 is closed in both directions at this time. An earlier big-rig truck fire leads to nearby vegetation catching fire. According to California Highway Patrol reports, the driver was seen walking and trying to put out the fire near his front tires.

As of 11:45 a.m. on Friday, July 1 the road is closed.

This is a developing story and no estimation of reopening the highway is known.

Use SR 88 to SR89, or I80 to get to Lake Tahoe at this time.
