Victim in Sunday's motorcycle crash in South Lake Tahoe dies

The woman riding on the back of the motorcycle involved in a crash in South Lake Tahoe on July 5 has died as a result of her injuries according to the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.

The woman, who's age and identity has not been released, died Monday at Renown Regional Medical Center in Reno after being airlifted there after the 8:26 p.m. accident.

The motorcyclist and his passenger were headed west on Lake Tahoe Blvd near the intersection with Modesto Avenue. A Nissan truck was attempting to make a left-hand turn from Highway 50 onto Modesto when he struck the motorcycle.

Both people on the motorcycle were thrown several feet. Witnesses at Sno-Flake said the female passenger's helmet was cracked and that she was severely injured.

The male driver of the motorcycle was transported by ambulance to Barton Memorial Hospital after the incident. His condition has not been released. The driver of the Nissan was not injured.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing. No names, locations or ages have been released by the Washoe County Coroner's Office or the South Lake Tahoe Police Department.
