COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials have announced 18 new cases of COVID-19 in the county, with nine in the Lake Tahoe region, four in El Dorado Hills, three in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue and two in Placerville.

Of the new cases, two are under the age of 18, 15 are in the 18-49-year-old group, and one is aged 50-64, ten are male, and eight female. To date, 381 residents have tested positive for the coronavirus..

There have been eight new recoveries, leaving 171 estimated recoveries.

Testing sites were able to conduct 300 new tests.

There has been no change to the number of patients in the ICU - 2. There is one suspected COVID-positive patient in the ICU.

County-wide there have been 381 cases with 188 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting fifteen new positive cases and no additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County region. This brings the total number of cases to 494, with 338 recoveries and eight deaths, 148 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A male Carson City resident in his 60’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 70’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 70’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 40’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 20’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 40’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 40’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 80’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 40’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident under the age of 18 with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 40’s with an exposure to a positive coworker.
• A male Carson City resident under the age of 18 with a connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

Washoe County

The Regional Information Center is reporting 85 new COVID-19 cases and two new deaths in Washoe County since Wednesday.

52 (+0) of the confirmed cases to date are in Incline Village with 12 (-3) active ones, and one recovered case in Crystal Bay.

Placer County

There have been 52 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Wednesday, with three of those new cases in the Lake Tahoe area.

Their seven-day test rate is 6 percent positive, and 14-day case rate is 112.7 per 100,000.

Alpine County

Thursday morning Alpine County health officials we were notified of a positive laboratory result for an Alpine County resident. This is their first case in over three months.

"We have been anticipating this event as we have monitored the increasing number of cases in all of the surrounding counties," said Dr. Richard Johnson, Alpine County's health official. The individual has been contacted by their team and is recovering at home without being hospitalized. The source of exposure has been identified from out of the county, and all local contacts have been interviewed. There is no risk to the community at large from this case.
