Local woman starts mobile delivery service for SUPs, kayaks, snorkel gear and more

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Adventure like a local with a new service that delivers kayaks and SUPs to where you want to recreate. Local Tahoe Adventures solves the problem that any have - how to get the equipment needed to Lake Tahoe. With smaller cars hitting the road, many don't have the room to carry a kayak or standup paddleboard to the beach.

Jessica "Nikky" Lipovsky started the company to take care of problems like that.

Nikky started the business in 2022 and is using this second summer to grow and fill more recreation needs.

Local Tahoe Adventures is also delivering snorkel gear and offers boat and SCUBA charters with a US Coast Guard licensed boat captain and PADI dive master.

She is seeing mostly families but gets a lot of girl groups, and bachelor and bachelorette parties. Her service is convenient so they don't have to rent just by the hour, and can use the equipment to fit when they want to hit the water. Things can be rented for four-to-eight-hour periods of time during the day, or for 24-hour periods or even weeks at a time. Services are totally customizable.

"I want to work with groups of people, families, and friends so they can enjoy the outdoors as much as possible, as safely as possible!" said Nikky.

The 2010 graduate from Whittel High School at Zephyr Cove, Nikky came back to Tahoe after college. She works full-time at McP's as well as full-time hours with the delivery service - a busy girl!

"I'm a Tahoe local who loves the outdoors," said Nikki about why she started Local Tahoe Adventures. "The outdoors is not always accessible to everyone and it's super important to be in nature. Hope this company can get everyone outside - I'm passionate about that."

The list of items that can be delivered is a long one - paddleboards, tandem and single kayaks, snorkel gear for adults and kids, along with a boat for charters and scuba diving. All rentals come with dry bags, life jackets and paddles. Her boyfriend Drew Smith is the certified captain as well as one of the new owners of Noel's Coffee & Apothecary at Stateline, next to Lucky Beaver. It's coffee by morning, cocktails by evening.

Nikky also offers lessons, tours, and safety briefings.

"I hope by delivering these services, I am able to help others get on the lake and enjoy the water, without the hassle of beach rentals or buying and lugging their own gear to the beach," said Nikky.

Deliveries are made from Tahoma to Zephyr Cove and the South Shore.
