Fifteen officers from three Northern Nevada agencies recently completed "Operation Safe Streets," putting them in touch with dozens of high risk offenders in the Carson City, Douglas County, Washoe County and Lyon County areas.
Nevada Department of Public Safety- Division of Parole and Probation in collaboration with the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, and the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office made the contacts on July 29 and July 30, resulting in 11 arrests.
Four offenders were arrested for violating conditions of their supervision and seven non-supervised individuals were arrested for committing new crimes.
Officers performed 63 home contacts, 3 employment contacts, 2 field contacts, 22 drug tests, and 5 K-9 searches. In addition to meeting with offenders, officers performed 48 personal contacts with members of the community to verify offender compliance.
This multi-agency collaboration was considered a great success. “Operation Safer Streets” allowed for increased offender supervision, sharing of resources, and intelligence and serves as an example of how state and local law enforcement agencies work together to increase community safety in Northern Nevada.
