Blaze shuts down US395 in both directions near Hallelujah Junction

Evacuations are underway after a three fires broke out north of Hallelujah Junction near US395 Sunday afternoon. The highway is currently closed in both directions from the junction with SR70 to Contantia Road.
According to the Sierra Front Interagency Dispatch Center, the North Fire started about 3:35 p.m. and as of 5:00 p.m. had already burned 1,500 acres. Multiple fire departments are responded to the area from Lake Tahoe - North Tahoe, Truckee, Tahoe Douglas, South Lake Tahoe and Squaw Valley, along with Truckee Meadows Fire and East Fork Fire. Evacuations have been called for the Rancho Haven area. People who evacuate can go to the Washoe County Senior Center at 1001 E. Ninth St. and, if needed, livestock will be taken to the Reno Livestock Events Center.
South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue sent a brush crew with four firefighters to the North Fire.
The South Fire started about 4:04 p.m. and have burned five acres, and the Shoe Tree Fire, reported at 2:51 p.m., has also burned five acres. They are both near the North Fire.
