Jimmy LaFave, the Night Tribe at Valhalla Boathouse Theater Wednesday

Event Date:
August 12, 2015 - 7:30pm

Considered one of the founding fathers of Americana, singer songwriter Jimmy LaFave will be at the Valhalla Boathouse Theater on Wednesday, August 12.

Singer songwriter Jimmy LaFave is considered one of the leaders of the "Red Dirt Music" movement, a loose association of American Roots, folks and country musicians and songwriters influenced by the lifestyle and landscape of rural Oklahoma defined by Woodie Guthrie. Jimmy has received many awards and accolades, among them being invited to speak and perform at Woody Guthrie's induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in Cleveland, Ohio, by Woody's daughter Nora. He was also the Austin Chronicle's singer-songwriter of the year for two years running (And that's a big deal in the live music capital of the world!).

A revered songwriter who has spent much of the past three decades on the road, Jimmy LaFave has come to appreciate his place as a member of 'The Night Tribe,' his nickname for those kindred souls whose lives unfold mostly after dark - the 24-hour diner waitress, the graveyard-shift radio DJ, the bartender, the taxi driver... and the musician.

This show starts at 7:30 p.m.
