Moose Lodge hosting 15th annual Kids' Fishing Derby at Lake Baron

Event Date:
September 18, 2016 - 7:00am

The South Lake Tahoe Moose Lodge is hosting their 15th annual Kids' Fishing Derby on Sunday, September 18, at Tahoe Paradise’s Lake Baron. Families find this event fun and exciting, and it is free to all children under the age of 16. Registration begins at 7:00 a.m. at Lake Baron, near the main entrance.

Hot Dogs, Chips, Sodas, and water are provided free to all registered children and are available for purchase by others. The event wraps up at 1:00 p.m.

For the event, the Lodge will be planting the lake with hundreds of pounds of trout, ranging from one to five pounds. Fishing poles, tackle and bait will be provided, but participates are welcome to bring their own.

1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes (savings accounts at El Dorado Savings Bank) will be awarded for the largest fish caught. Each registered child also will receive a raffle ticket for a drawing to win a prize from a large selection of toys and games.

Last year's winner, Casey Holden, won the contest with a 7 lb, 5 oz fish.

Lake Baron is located at 1011 East Bernardino Avenue in Tahoe Paradise Park.

The Lodge would appreciate monetary donations and donations of prizes from small toys to puzzles and games. To date, the El Dorado Community Foundation has donated $1000, Kiwanis of Tahoe Sierra $500, Coldwell Banker McKinney & Associates $250 along with several individual donations.
