Tahoe Rim Trail worker injured after serious fall

A worker on the Tahoe Rim Trail sustained serious injuries Thursday when he fell down a steep slope and landed on rocks near Heavenly Mountain Resort.

"The unidentified man was taken to the hospital with multiple traumatic injuries," Tahoe Douglas Fire Marshall Eric Guevin told South Tahoe Now. "He was with a snagged tree and thrown 40 feet down a 40 percent slope."

Douglas County Search and Rescue joined Tahoe Douglas Fire in reaching the man in an out-of-bounds area near the resort's Mott Canyon. A California Highway Patrol helicopter out of Auburn used long lines to get the victim over to the parking lot at Boulder Lodge where they were met by an ambulance.

Guevin said the injured man was taken to Barton Hospital in South Lake Tahoe.
