COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials report another eight positive cases of COVID-19 today. Three are in the Lake Tahoe area, two in Placerville, one in each El Dorado Hills/Diamond Springs, El Dorado and North County. Of these, two are under the age of 18, five aged 18-49, and one aged 50-64.

Another 155 tests were administered. 147 negative test results were returned.

There are an assumed 13 more recoveries, bringing that total to 799.

No change to the hospitalization numbers with one hospitalized in the ICU. There are no suspected cases in the hospital. There have been two deaths to date of county residents.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 3.8 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 76. The Lake Tahoe region is High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater) along with El Dorado Hills. Much of the balance of the county is Moderate (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99).

County-wide there have been 932 cases with 433 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting eleven new cases and thirteen additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 963, with 867 recoveries and fifteen deaths, 81 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A female Lyon County resident in her 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident in his 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident in his 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 30’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Lyon County resident in his 30’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Lyon County resident in her 40’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 50’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in his 20’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 20’s with a connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

There is one drive-thru COVID-19 testing event for Quad-County residents this week. Testing is free of charge; first come, first served, no appointments or reservations.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 88 new COVID-19 cases and two new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

There have been 38 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 22 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 71 (+0) in Kings Beach, 8 (+0) in Olympic Village, 17 (+0) in Truckee, 6 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 6.9 percent positive, and 14-day case rate is 71.7 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 4.1 percent, 14-day increase is 17.8 percent.
