FEET Fund to help families with costs of educational trips

The "Angel of Tahoe" Lisa Maloff has made $100,000 available to students in the Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) to provide equitable educational trips for all students through 6th grade.

As a result, a F.E.E.T (Fulfill Equitable Educational Trips) Fund was started by a newly formed group founded by Kathy Haven.

This fund is designed to help socio-economically disadvantaged youth with the cost of the amazing standards-based overnight field trips that local school children often have the opportunity to participate in. The FEET fund will allow LTUSD teachers/principals to apply annually to receive a $75 donation per needy student towards their trip.

On top of that, this fund, will provide teachers a small stipend for attending these trips with their students. The idea behind the FEET Fund is to keep these enriching opportunities available to all children, and keep the teachers motivated to organize and run them.

The El Dorado Community Foundation will host the FEET Fund which, as always, allows 98.5% of our funds we raise to go directly to the children. The FEET Fund will be looking for long-time fundraising opportunities to make this annual donation to our schools a long term solution for expensive overnight field trips, but Lisa Maloff’s donation makes an immediate start possible for this coming school year.
