Husband a "person of interest" in death of 82-year-old woman

12 p.m. update 9/2/15:

Douglas County Sheriff’s investigators have released the name of the deceased woman found in a home at 1471 Edlesborough Circle in Gardnerville, NV.

She has been identified as 82-year-old Phyllis Lewis.

The man who barricaded himself inside his residence where his wife was found is William Lewis, 86. He is currently being treated at a local hospital for unspecified medical issues.

An autopsy will be completed on Phyllis to determine the cause death. William Lewis has been named a person of interest in his wife's death.

This incident remains under investigation.

7 a.m. update 9/2/15:

A robot was used by the Douglas County Sheriff’s CNT and SWAT teams to gain entry into the home and make contact with the unidentified man inside. They were able to see the male appeared to be in medical distress so the SWAT team entered and got to the man, who was then transported to the hospital with an unknown medical condition.

Investigators obtained a search warrant for the residence at approximately 11:25 p.m. and they have begun the investigation.

This is an active homicide investigation. The male has not been placed into custody at this time, pending the outcome of the investigation.

All roads into the Chichester Estates are open and there is not threat to the public.

No names have been released at this time.

10 p.m. 9/1/15:
A woman has been found dead inside a home in the Chichester neighborhood of Gardnverville, NV. Douglas County Deputies entering the home also found a man who was barricaded inside.

At around 7:30 p.m. Tuesday night, Douglas County deputies were called to the 1400 block of Edlesborough Circle in Gardnerville for a suspicious circumstance report. When deputies arrived they found evidence of a crime, said Douglas County Sheriff's Office Sgt. Pat Brooks.

When deputies entered the home the female victim in the living room and a male barricaded inside the residence.

Douglas County Sheriff SWAT and CNT units responded to the scene and are making assessments as of 9:30 p.m. The main road into Chichester Estates is closed at this time and the Sheriff's Department is asking for the public to stay clear of this area.

No other information has been released at this time.
