City Council agenda includes renaming street policy, the budget and VHR report

The next meeting of the South Lake Tahoe City Council is Tuesday, September 4, 2018, starting at 9:00 a.m.

During the meeting they will discuss, and or vote on, the following topics:

The 2018-2019 Municipal Budget will be presented in a workshop. Discussion started in April for adoption this Fall. The largest expense in the budget is $640,000 which covers Animal Control costs. Salaries and benefits equal $27,387,222 of the

budget which is being presented as $86,487,692.

A renaming street policy is being considered, especially after the generous donations Mrs. Lisa Maloff has made to the community.

Spending $76,000 to replace the aging, moldy and torn cover on the SLT Recreation Center pool. Council could take Measure P funds for the project or use money from the General Fund.

The future of City Clerk and Assistant City Clerk positions and discussion on whether the Clerk should be elected or hired. During the last Council meeting, they decided that it was too late in the game to change the status prior to the November election as two candidates have already filed to run. They will also discuss the hiring of a temporary City Clerk service to fill in until the end of 2018.

Purchase of a compacting trash-recycle truck for City staff to use when cleaning out trash at City beaches and parks.

There will also be a presentation (no vote) on vacation home rentals (VHRs) that will include the number of calls received, fines collected, permits issued and response times. One household is responsible for 17 calls to the house across the street and next door.
