Lake Tahoe area roadwork September 9 - 15

The following are projects the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) is working on in the Lake Tahoe Basin.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $57 million project from the “Y” intersection at State Route 89 to the Trout Creek Bridge in South Lake Tahoe. This project is building new drainage systems to collect and treat stormwater runoff, rebuilding curbs, gutters and sidewalks, widening the highway to allow for bike lanes and resurfacing the roadway. Completion is expected in fall 2019. September 9-14 - U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from the Upper Truckee River to Winnemucca Avenue: The westbound lanes will be closed around the clock from midnight Sunday to 11 a.m. Friday for grinding and paving work. Traffic will be shifted to the eastbound lanes, with one lane open in each direction.

State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $35 million project in Tahoe City to build a new Truckee River bridge east of the Caltrans Maintenance Yard with roundabouts on either end of the realignment, replace the existing Truckee River (Fanny) Bridge, construct a roundabout at the “Wye” intersection and make complete street enhancements to the portion of State Route 89/West Lake Boulevard. Completion is expected in 2019. For more information, visit: www.fannybridge.org - September 9-14 - State Route 89 (Placer County) from the Tahoe City Transit Center to the Caltrans Maintenance Yard: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 10 p.m. Sunday to 9 a.m. Monday and 8 p.m. to 9 a.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $3.6 million multi-use path project that will connect the existing path that ends at Sugar Pine Point State Park to Meeks Bay Resort. Completion is expected this fall. September 10-13 - State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Meeks Bay Resort to Sugar Pine State Park: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday for utility work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $7.1 million project to resurface more than 10 miles of Highway 50 from the Sawmill Undercrossing in Cedar Grove to the South Fork American River Bridge at Riverton in El Dorado County, due to funds from Senate Bill 1 (SB 1), the Road Repair and Accountability Act of 2017. September 10-14 - U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) between Cedar Grove and Riverton: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect intermittent lane and on- and off-ramp closures from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday for paving and striping work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Bedford Avenue to Placerville Drive: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect the #1 lane closed from 10 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday through Friday for attenuator repair work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Broadway Street/Mosquito Road in Placerville: Eastbound motorists can expect the Broadway Street off-ramp closed and westbound motorists can expect the Mosquito Road on-ramp closed until September 20 for bridge deck work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Carson Road in Camino to Sly Park Road: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect intermittent closures of the #1 lane at various locations from 10 p.m. to 9 a.m. Sunday through Friday for attenuator repair work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Sierra Ski Ranch Road to Audrain Way: Westbound motorists can expect the #2 lane closed from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday for shoulder work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from the Caltrans Echo Summit Maintenance Yard to Johnson Pass Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday for shoulder work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from Spanish Flat Road to the junction with State Route 49 in Cool: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for tree work.

State Route 267 (Placer County) from Northstar Drive to the Ranger Station road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for sign work.
