COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. -El Dorado County health officials say another seven residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, four are in El Dorado Hills, two in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one in Greater Placerville and one in Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz.

Please note the total case count is increasing by seven but a previously reported case has also been transferred out of County from the Lake Tahoe area.

In this group of new cases are five are aged 18-49 and three aged 50-64. .

Another 95 people were tested for the coronavirus and 88 negative tests results were received.

There have been another eight assumed recoveries. One person has been hospitalized in the ICU and there are no suspected cases of COVID-19 in the hospital.

To date, two residents have died.

El Dorado County is currently in the red/substantial tier of reopening. To move to the orange/moderate tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be four per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than five percent for the previous two weeks. See more HERE.

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 2.3 percent, and the 14-day rate of new cases is 40 (-3). The Lake Tahoe region moved from the High (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100 or greater) to moderate with much of the rest of the county (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). Three areas are now in the low range (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,032 cases with 458 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

Quad-Counties - Carson City, Douglas, Storey, Lyon

Carson City Health and Human Services (CCHHS) is reporting ten new cases and seven additional recoveries of COVID-19 in the Quad-County Region. This brings the total number of cases to 1,131, with 1,009 recoveries and fifteen deaths, 107 cases remain active.

The new cases are:
• A female Carson City resident in her 30’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident in his 50’s with a connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident under the age of 18 with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Douglas County resident in her 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Douglas County resident in his 60’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident under the age of 18 with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 70’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A female Carson City resident in her 20’s with no connection to a previously reported case.
• A male Carson City resident in his 30’s with a connection to a previously reported case.

Carson City Health and Human Services is working to identify close risk contacts to prevent further spread of the disease. Due to medical privacy requirements and to protect their identity, no further information about the cases will be released.

The Regional Information Center is reporting 45 new COVID-19 cases and no new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

There have been 27 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since Tuesday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 23 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 89 (+5) in Kings Beach, 9 (+0) in Olympic Valley, 17 (+0) in Truckee, 8 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 3.9 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 6.3 per 100,000. Seven-day increase is 5.4 percent, 14-day increase is 11.3 percent.
