Viking Corner: This Week at South Tahoe High

Students of South Tahoe High School got a taste of fall this week, as the weather brought rain and wind. Homecoming Week planning began, students learned about the impact of social media, and sports teams prepared to travel this weekend.

Homecoming
The Homecoming Parade is slated for October 12. Students plan on walking from T.J. Maxx to the high school to celebrate homecoming traditions. Ms. Russel’s leadership classes expect a big crowd and a fun day before the homecoming dance that evening.

Senior class president, Maile McDaniel, hopes the school spirit will shine through during Homecoming Week and for everyone to contribute.

Screenagers
All students of STHS were invited to watch the documentary, “Screenagers,” a film about how social media affects our everyday lives – both at home and at school.

“It made me realize I need to be more present with my social surroundings and live life without technology,” said sophomore Maiella Riva.

Sports
The varsity volleyball team traveled Thursday to Clovis, California for the Hard Driven Volleyball Tournament to get more reps in before going on the road against Dayton and Truckee high schools next week.

“I’m excited about new competition that we don’t play in regular league,” said senior middle hitter, Alysse Bross.

The football team plays Fernley High School on their turf today at 7 p.m.
