Forest Service responds to two wildland fires near Lake Tahoe

The U.S Forest Service responded two two fires on Friday: One at D.L Bliss State park at Lake Tahoe's west shore and the other near Dick's Lake in the Desolation Wilderness.

Here's the news release the Forest Service issued:

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif.-- The U. S. Forest Service responded today to two wildland fires. This morning, Forest Service wildland firefighters, along with CalFire and Meek's Bay Fire Protection District, responded to a small fire at D.L. Bliss State Park on Lake Tahoe's West Shore. The Bliss Fire was controlled at one-tenth of an acre and is currently in patrol status. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

This afternoon, three Redding Smokejumpers are parachuting in to respond to a 45 by 40 foot fire near Dick's Lake in the Desolation Wilderness. The cause of the Dick's Fire is under investigation.

Smoke visible in the Lake Tahoe Basin is likely from the Long Fire on the Eldorado National Forest.
