12th annual Mutt Strut Poker Run in South Lake Tahoe

Sunday, October 9 will be going to the dogs, and their humans, during the Animal Coalition of Tahoe’s 12th annual Mutt Strut Poker Run, a fun, family event where you can get a little exercise with your pooch, play poker, and maybe win some prizes is less than two weeks away!

The Mutt Strut will begin at the corner of Lake Tahoe Boulevard and Lakeview Avenue in South Lake Tahoe, with registration from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Participants will pick playing cards at stops along a one mile route, hoping for the best poker hands. Fabulous prizes will be awarded to those with the best hands. It’s not a race, it’s just a fun way to raise money for ACT!

No poker experience is needed.

The fun continues after the walk, with a party at Timber Cove Beach featuring music, raffle drawings, and contests such as best trick, hot dog eating, and musical sit.

Poker hands may be purchased on site for $10 each, or three hands for $25. There is an incentive to make purchases in advance – buy three hands by October 9 and receive a free Mutt Strut t-shirt. Purchases may be made in advance at two South Lake Tahoe locations: Pet Station, 2205 Lake Tahoe Blvd., or Bonanza Boot and Leather store located at the Chateau Shopping Center at Stateline.

ACT is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, all-volunteer corporation with the goal of raising funds to support a low-cost spay-neuter program. ACT also donates 10% of funds raised to the El Dorado County Animal Shelter.
