Lake Tahoe area roadwork for October 8-14

The following report is from Caltrans on projects and activities on their roads in Lake Tahoe.

SPECIAL EVENT

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from 5 Mile Road to Carson Road in Camino: Eastbound motorists can expect the left turn lanes to be closed at 5 Mile Road, lower Carson Road and upper Carson Road from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday, October 8 and Saturday October 14 for Apple Hill Season. Motorists will be directed to Exit 54/Cedar Grove to access Carson Road.

EMERGENCY PROJECTS

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Forest Road to the PG&E canal in Fresh Pond: The highway is reduced to one lane in each direction for roadway repair work. Completion is expected in late fall.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): The highway is reduced to one lane in the westbound direction at Bridal Veil Falls for roadway repair work. Both eastbound lanes are now open. Completion is expected in mid-November.

LONG-TERM PROJECTS

State Route 49 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $22 million project to replace the South Fork American River Bridge in Coloma-Lotus. This project will make seismic improvements to the bridge, widen the structure to allow for 8-foot shoulders and 6-foot sidewalks, and also make roadway improvements to State Route 49 on either side of the bridge. Completion is expected in fall 2018. October 9-14 - State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Lotus Road to Marshall Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday and Tuesday for bridge work. Beginning at 12:01 a.m. on Wednesday, motorists can expect one-way traffic control around the clock for 11 days until October 24 for roadway excavation work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County): Work continues on a $57 million project from the “Y” intersection with State Route 89 to the Trout Creek Bridge in South Lake Tahoe. This project is building new drainage systems to collect and treat stormwater runoff, rebuilding curb, gutter and sidewalks, widening the highway to allow for bike lanes and resurfacing the roadway. Completion is expected in fall 2019. October 9-13 - U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Dunlap Drive to Winnemucca Avenue: Eastbound and westbound motorists can expect lane restrictions from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday for electrical, drainage, stone wall work and driveway conformation work.

State Route 89 (Placer County): Work continues on a $35 million project in Tahoe City to build a new Truckee River bridge east of the Caltrans Maintenance Yard with roundabouts on either end of the realignment, replace the existing Truckee River (Fanny) Bridge, construct a roundabout at the “Wye” intersection and make complete street enhancements to the portion of State Route 89/West Lake Boulevard. October 8-13 - State Route 89 (Placer County) from Fairway Drive to Mackinaw Road: Motorists can expect shoulder closures as work continues behind k-rail Monday through Friday for bridge work and utility work.

SHORT-TERM PROJECTS
State Route 28 (Placer County) from Sahara Drive to Center Street: Motorists can expect lane shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday for utility work.
State Route 49 (El Dorado County) from Aaron Cool Road to Saint Florian Road in Cool: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Wednesday for ditch cleaning work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) near Latrobe Road/El Dorado Hills Boulevard: Eastbound motorists can expect the #3 and 4 lanes closed from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday through Friday for roadway excavation work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at Strawberry Tract: Motorists can expect lane restrictions from 7 p.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday for roadway excavation work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) at the junction with State Route 89 in Meyers: Motorists can expect lane restrictions from 8 p.m. to 10 a.m. Monday through Friday for roadway excavation work.

U.S. Highway 50 (El Dorado County) from Audrian Way to Echo Summit: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 7 a.m. to noon Friday for dead tree removal work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from the Alpine County line (Luther Pass) to Christmas Valley Road: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday for tree removal work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Cascade Creek to the Emerald Bay Sidehill Viaduct: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday for guardrail, barrier wall and slope repair and dead tree removal work.

State Route 89 (El Dorado County) from Sugar Pine State Park to General Creek State Park: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday for drain cleaning work.

State Route 193 (El Dorado County) from the junction with State Route 49 in Cool to the junction with State Route 49 in Placerville: Motorists can expect one-way traffic control at various locations from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday for tree work.

The Caltrans District Traffic Management Branch has reviewed each project and determined that individual project delays are expected to be less than the statewide policy maximum of 30 minutes, unless noted otherwise above. Lanes are numbered from the center divide (#1) to the shoulder (#2, 3, 4, etc.).
