Kudos: Heavenly hosts Monday Meal Dinner

With the coming of winter, the folks at Heavenly Mountain Resort are working hard to gear up for the upcoming ski season and hoping for lots of snow and great snow conditions on the mountain for this winter’s skiers and snowboarders. In the middle of all this planning and preparation, a crew from Heavenly Mountain Resort joined the Bread & Broth volunteers to provide a great meal for the diners at Bread & Broth’s (B&B) Monday Meal on October 9 at St. Theresa’s Grace Hall.

At their October Adopt A Day of Nourishment (AAD) sponsorship, representatives were Kyle Barnedt, Dispatch Supervisor; Katie Ficeto, Marketing and B&B’s AAD liaison; and Joan Gibson, Administration.

“We as the Heavenly AAD crew had such a great time helping the incredible B&B volunteer crew today,” commented Katie. “It was Kyle’s first time volunteering at a B&B meal, and he stepped in and worked so hard. Joan and I served food and dried lots of dishes! Thank you for having us!”

Volunteering and serving a hot, nutritious dinner is hard work but the personal rewards of feeding a hot meal and making folks feel welcomed and important cannot be measured. Selflessly helping others brings a sense of purpose which is uplifting and good for everyone’s physical and mental well-being.

Katie enjoys volunteering at a B&B meal so much that she usually is a member of the AAD sponsorship team when it is Heavenly’s turn to sponsor a Monday Meal. This happens six times a year as Heavenly alternates months with the Kirkwood Mountain Resort. The twelve Adopt A Days the two local Vail Resorts host annually are funded by Vail’s EpicPromise Grant which provides funding to community non-profit organizations in all the communities where Vail has resorts.
