Public invited to participate in US 50 Revitalization Project forum

Event Date:
November 3, 2016 - 5:30pm

Learn more about the US 50 South Shore Community Revitalization Project during a community forum hosted by the Tahoe Chamber on November 3 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel.

The program will include a project update, information about the environmental analysis, and audience Q & A about the highly debated topic also known as the Loop Road.

With the pending release of the draft environmental impact study for public review and comment, it’s never been more front and center than now and now is the time for the public to get their questions answered.

This project is intended to address the acute need for more affordable housing, including replacement housing for those relocated by the new segment of US 50. Designers and proponents say the project is being designed to reduce traffic congestion, expand pedestrian, bicycle facilities, and enhance transit services, stimulate further community economic revitalization, and implement a new round of environmental improvements, including improvements to water and air quality and scenic community design.

Representatives of the Tahoe Transportation District, the lead agency, will provide an overview of the project alternatives studies in the analysis, project implementation principles adopted by the District Board, and outline the schedule of public hearings for public input over the next several months.

They will answer written questions from the audience asked through the forum moderator. The Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce is hosting this informational event as a service to its members and the entire South Shore community. It will also be streamed live on @tahoechamber Facebook page.
