Tahoe Prosperity Center to host Tahoe Economic Summit

Event Date:
October 30, 2017 - 9:00am

The Tahoe Prosperity Center will host the first annual Tahoe Economic Summit on
Monday, October 30, 2017 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Hyatt Regency Lake Tahoe. The theme of the summit is “Building Community through the Sharing Economy.”

Lake Tahoe may be made up of many communities, but we are one lake and one regional economy, and what affects some of us, affects all of us. The Tahoe Prosperity Center is hosting the first annual Tahoe Economic Summit to catalyze change and take action for the benefit of our regional economy. If you are interested in economic and quality of life issues in Lake Tahoe, you are encouraged to attend.

The Tahoe Prosperity Center is bringing community leaders together around the goal of improving Tahoe’s regional economy. The Summit will provide opportunities for attendees to learn about the “Sharing Economy,” and specifically how it impacts housing, entrepreneurship and workforce.

The Summit will deliver:
• Information on regional and national economic issues that impact the local economy – (At the Summit, the Tahoe Prosperity Center will be releasing updated economic and community data from the 2017 Measuring for Prosperity Report.)
• Knowledge about Tahoe’s individual communities’ strategies to address these issues.
• Learning through sharing adaptation approaches and successes.

The Keynote Speaker is Gino Borges, PhD, a Partner and Director of Impact at OpenPath Investments. The OpenPath team transforms ordinary apartment complexes into thriving communities via their Urban Village program. Gino will discuss the Sharing Economy and how we can look at economic prosperity differently to focus on positive transformation for Tahoe, its residents and community.

Using the theme “Building Community through the Sharing Economy” there will also be three Focus Areas to explore around Entrepreneurship, Workforce and Housing. Current speakers include many Lake Tahoe locals: Alicia Barr, FiftyFifty Brewing/Drunken Monkey; Emily Deane, Big Truck; Shawn Kernes, LARKR.com; Rachel McCullough, McCullough Web Services/Tahoe Silicon Mountain and Chris McNamara, OutdoorGearLab/TechGearLab.

Tickets are $85 in advance, $95 at the door, and include the full day of education, learning and sharing sessions as well as light refreshments, a full buffet lunch and beverages. Details can be found online at http://tahoeeconomicsummit.org/
