COVID-19 case update for Lake Tahoe area counties

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - El Dorado County health officials say another 21 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 since yesterday. Of those, five are in El Dorado Hills, two in Cameron Park/Shingle Springs/Rescue, one in South County, one in Diamond Springs/El Dorado, and 12 in the Lake Tahoe region.

One of those new cases, two are under the age of 18, 14 are aged 18-49, and five are aged 50-64.

Another 417 people were tested for the coronavirus and 396 negative tests results were received.

There have been another 11 assumed recoveries with 228 assumed active cases.

There are currently four COVID-19 patients in the Marshall or Barton hospital ICUs and one suspected case hospitalized in the ICU.

The county will remain in the orange tier as the adjudicate their State-assigned Red tier placement on 11-10-20.

To move to the next lower tier, the yellow/minimal tier, the average daily rate of new cases needs to be less than one per 100,000 residents, and positivity rate of less than two percent for the previous two weeks. This cannot be done until being in the orange tier for three weeks at a minimum, which means there could have been a re-evaluation on November 10 (County did not quality at the original Nov. 3 date).

The County dashboard shows cases by episode date, not by the date El Dorado County Public Health was notified about the new case. Episode date is the earliest of the following dates: (symptom onset date, diagnosis date, specimen collection date, date received, or date of death) and serves as the best approximation of the date of infection.

The 7-day positivity rate for El Dorado County is 3.3 percent positivity (specimens collected Oct. 28-Nov. 3) and the 14-day rate of new cases is 104 (+11) (these figures do not include today's data).

The Lake Tahoe region of the county has moved into the High Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 100) and are joined there by El Dorado/Diamond Springs and Shingle Springs/Cameron Park/Rescue. El Dorado Hills, Pollock Pines/Camino/Kyburz, North County and Greater Placerville are in the Moderate Tier (case rate per 100,000 population over the previous 14 days of 26-99). South County in the only area in the low tier (25 or less per 100,000 for last 14 days).

County-wide there have been 1,558 cases with 593 of those in the Lake Tahoe area (including South Lake Tahoe, Meyers, Strawberry, and Tahoma).

The Regional Information Center is reporting 471 new COVID-19 cases and four new deaths in Washoe County since yesterday.

There have been 59 new cases of confirmed COVID-19 in Placer County since yesterday.

Lake Tahoe area cases - 46 (+0) are in Tahoe City, 153 (+0) in Kings Beach, 12 (+0) in Olympic Valley, 35 (+0) in Truckee, 15 (+0) in Carnelian Bay.

Their seven-day test rate is 4.0 percent positive, and average daily case rate for last 7 days is 8.6 per 100,000. Seven- day increase is 8.3 percent, 14-day increase is 15.7 percent.
