El Dorado County man arrested after mother and brother found dead

A dispute over an inheritance is the apparent reason an El Dorado County man and his mother are dead, according to authorities.

Milo Lloyd Wallace, 49, was arrested at 1:40 a.m. Thursday, November 12 on suspicion of murder and assault with a deadly weapon. His mother, 71-year-old Sandra Wallace, and brother Matthew Wallace, 38, were found dead with gunshot wounds Wednesday evening at the home his mother owned in the Oak Hill area southeast of Placerville.

Deputies from the El Dorado County Sheriff's Office responded to a 911 call from

Brooke Warner of Cameron Park, saying she thought her husband was killed.

Earlier in the day, Matt Wallace drove up to assist with some work that needed to be done around the house. When Matt didn’t come home, his wife drove to her mother-in-law's home because she wasn’t able to contact him. Brooke took her brother along because of some tension between the two Wallace brothers over future inheritance of the family estate.

At the house, Brooke knocked on the door and was met by Milo who had a gun pointed at her. A scuffle ensued and Brooke and her brother were able to get the gun away from Milo. They detained Milo until sheriff’s deputies arrived.

Deputies found Sandra dead inside the home and Matt dead outside, behind the house. Once the area was secured, detectives and CSI were called to investigate. Coroner’s detectives also responded.

Detectives detained Milo Wallace for questioning. Detectives and CSI personnel spent the night at the house and were still on the property Thursday, collecting evidence.

Milo Wallace was arrested, booked, and it being held in the El Dorado County Jail.

Both victims suffered gunshot wounds however the official cause of death will be determined later after a forensic autopsy. The case is still under investigation.

Records show that Sandra Wallace’s husband, Leonard Francis Wallace, died in February at age 77.
