Kudos: Generosity and thankfulness highlight Bread & Broth’s Thanksgiving Dinner

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. - Heaping servings of turkey, mashed potatoes, and dressing all covered in gravy, served with homemade cranberry sauce, sweet potato casserole, green bean casserole, dinner rolls, and a choice of apple, cherry, pecan, or pumpkin pie topped with whipped cream, was the traditional Thanksgiving meal served by Bread & Broth on Monday, November 20.

Open to everyone in the community, Bread & Broth’s Thanksgiving feast has brought the joy of the season and the warmth of knowing that others care for over 30 years. Indeed, the Thanksgiving meal was a ‘labor of love’ by the Bread & Broth volunteers who worked over a period of four days to prepare and serve a Thanksgiving meal that fed 215 grateful dinner guests and provided second servings to 11 diners and enabled 38 very happy dinner guests that stayed to the end of the meal service to receive “take-home” servings for a second Thanksgiving meal later in the week.

In addition to the volunteers and their many hours dedicated to the Thanksgiving meal, Bread & Broth would like to acknowledge and thank the many generous financial contributions from our supportive community members which were used to purchase all the ingredients of the holiday meal. In particular, Bread & Broth would like to recognize and thank Smart & Final for donating 60 pies and the Golden Nugget for providing the evening’s dinner rolls and utensils packages.

Finally, Bread & Broth would like to thank Sierra Valley Electric for going above and beyond to ensure that Grace Hall had power for the meal during the Liberty Utilities’ power outage that was needed to perform critical work before this winter season's snow storms.

Everything about Bread & Broth’s Thanksgiving dinner encompassed the generosity of spirit and the thankfulness of this holiday season of joyful giving.
